Replica of an 1845 Unangan Iqyax
This kayak was my very first experience with building and paddling a replica kayak; I built it in 1994. The source for the lines was David Zimmerly's drawing of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnology's (St. Petersburg, Russia) kayak MAE 593-76 (1986:16, fig.16). It measures 19'1" long, 17" wide, and 8-3/8" deep to sheer.
